Decade - a (tekgnostic) retrospective...

Here in the waning hours of the last year of the second decade of the 21st Century... the proverbial "situation" continues to be desperate as usual... but in a more rubber-meets-the-road, kick-in-the-teeth sort of way. The decade that is about to close was one that went from bad... to worse... to unbelievable. Looking back, 2010 seems like a quaint, friendly year from another epoch. Or maybe a happy, care-free year from another dimension or from a parallel Universe...

We thought we'd seen it all in the first half of the twenty-teens... but by the middle of the decade, the proverbial "situation" took a turn. We abruptly took a hard-right, and went from, slightly strange "status quo" to... "you can't make this stuff up." Having taken that unexpected right turn... we found ourselves whistling down some very strange streets indeed. Even as we picked up our pace, the sound of marching jack-boots seemed to be gaining on us.

The incredulous observer need not point to mere politics or paradigm... the strangeness that "went down" in the second half of the twenty-teens defies normality. High Strangeness ensues. Fringe-think replaces stop-and-think. Desperate for a dependable roadmap, we find ourselves in uncharted territory. And yet, before plunging into 2020... we might afford a tiny peek back...  

Even though our esteemed colleague in synchro-mystic profundity, Christopher Knowles over at the Great Secret Sun weblog has informed us that everyone on the planet has "zero interest in doing a year-end review or, God help us all, a decade-end review" ...and in keeping with the fine tradition of contrary, anti-intuitiveness... we present for your consideration... the decade in review! Find below a retrospective of the decade that was... within the fever-dreams @ Tek-Gnostics. In these Gnostic Times we find ourselves living through... in these days of extreme High Weirdness... it would be easy to sink into dystopian despair. But hope springs eternal in the heart of the decided optimist. The time-honored tradition of proclaiming a new year's resolution is almost as tired as the year-end retrospective... however... let us resolve ourselves in creating a peaceful planet in 2020. One free of cynicism and dread. Dare to be Naïve!

So it is with deep gratitude to all you intrepid psychonauts out there who laugh in the face of those rascally old Archons... to all those who kindle the tiny spark of light in the darkness...
