Deep State Asset - Is Taylor Swift the new Emma Peel?

File this one under the truth is far stranger than fiction... Pop star Taylor Swift is the subject of one of the most entertaining conspiracy theories to come slithering up the rabbit hole in years! Apparently, the brilliant strategists at Fox News gave credence to a looney tunes theory that Swift is secretly a Pentagon Asset. They actually began spreading this disinfo back in 2019...

"Taylor Swift is a “Pentagon asset”, an “election interference psyop” who, with unnamed left-leaning forces, has conspired to “rig” the Super Bowl and then endorse Joe Biden in the presidential election. That’s according to a raft of influential rightwing figures, who have begun to spread a conspiracy theory that the singer is part of a nefarious plot ahead of November’s election. Swift has found herself at the center of the rightwing commentariat’s attention in recent weeks after intense media focus on her relationship with Travis Kelce, a star tight-end for the Kansas City Chiefs football team."

During the recent Chiefs' conference championship game against the Baltimore Ravens... Mike Crispi, a pro-Trump podcast host on the right-wing Salem Media Group, posted a rant claiming the NFL had "RIGGED" a Chiefs victory. In part, Crispi posted this on Twit-X....

"All to spread DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA. Calling it now: KC wins, goes to Super Bowl, Swift comes out at the halftime show and 'endorses' Joe Biden with Kelce at midfield. It's all been an op since day one..."

Not to be outdone with conspiracy theorizing, everybody's favorite Alt-Right wingnut, Vivek Ramaswamy, who has pushed debunked conspiracy theories about the Jan. 6th insurrection, the 2020 election, and 9/11... fired this tweet out...

"I wonder who's going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there's a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall" 

If Taylor Swift is indeed a Deep State asset... she is at least as hot as the 1960's asset Emma Peel, from the great British TV show: The Avengers. Or maybe as alluring as Agent 99 from Get Smart. Years ago, we did a post on conspiracy theories and the eternal struggle between chaos and control... as typified in the classic Get Smart series. Taylor Swift now joins the ranks of great female assets Emma Peel and Agent 99, played by Barbara Feldon.

We admire these women's appeal (no pun intended) and recognize their attractiveness as an inevitable product of our Pop Culture. Women, especially strong, independent women, are routinely sexualized. Swift, along with Diana Riggs and Feldon's characters from the 60's pop TV shows, more importantly depict  successful, powerful women. They owned their sexuality, un-apologetically. Yet the image of strong, independent, kick-ass women elicits a fear-based, misogynistic reaction from certain threatened circles...    

Sadly... attention focused on Swift doesn't just draw conspiracy theories... It also attracts abuse. Specifically, the kind of abuse that is disproportionately targeted at women online. Recently, AI-generated sexually explicit images of Swift went viral on Twit-X and other social media sites, racking up tens of millions of views. The incident has resurfaced the prevalence of nonconsensual deepfake pornography, a problem that has plagued not only celebrities, but also regular women and girls, for years.

Such is the prevailing consequence of the failing, patrilineal, Predator/Dominator Paradigm. Not only misogyny, but a fear-based hatred for all black, brown, immigrant, LGBTQ sub-cultural fringe dwellers, who actually represent the creative, evolutionary, cutting edge segments of our mixed up, muddled up, shook up world. Hatful reactions to the inevitable rise of the Partnership Paradigm sadly continues.

However, the hilarious entertainment value of Alt-Right conspiracy theories gone wild cannot be overlooked. I mean... you can't make this stuff up! The sad truth about such bat-shit-crazy conspiracy theories is this... it doesn't matter if it's the truth... or even if the perpetrators of this hilarious-yet-troubling theory even believe it. Truth is not the point... post truth truthiness is.

In these strange days of algorithmic AI intrusion and disinformation... it's not about truth... it's about hits... clicks... likes... it's about how many eyes you can get on a particular mis-info Op that counts. So as entertaining as such crazy conspiracy theories as the Taylor Swift Deep-State Asset is... don't let the media-attention-grabbing mongers and dis-info hucksters suck you down their rabbit hole. Enjoy the entertainment value, but don't buy in to their craziness.

This particular conspiracy theory shows just how far out there Right-wing operators will go to further their agenda. Targeting Taylor Swift seems out there... but combine pop star diva with the Super Bowl, and you can generate a lot of attention... attract a lot of eyes. There is even a pop-numerology connection with Taylor's "lucky 13" foible. 

And hey, when it comes right down to it, I would want Taylor Swift and her cadre of bad-ass powerful women on my team any day! I know she is a country cross-over pop star, but she does cool stuff... like set up music speakers in the parking lot of her concerts... so her fans (Swifties) who didn't score a ticket, could still hear her live performances, a phenomena that has come to be known as Taylor-Gating... now that's cool.
