Operation MindF#@K – Tik Tok Granny

In classic Prankster/Discordian/Yippee fashion, Mary Jo Laupp, aka: the Tik Tok Grandma… posted the following message on her Tik Tok account, in reference to President Trump’s recent Tulsa rally…

“I recommend all of those of us that want to see this 19,000-seat auditorium barely filled or completely empty go reserve tickets now, and leave him standing there alone on the stage… watta ya say?”

Mary Jo said she had been watching black Tik Tok users express their frustration about Mr. Trump’s hosting his rally on Juneteenth, the holiday on June 19. (The rally was later moved to June 20.) She “vented” her own anger in a late-night TikTok video on June 11, which included the above call to action.

Apparently, Mary Jo’s late-night Tik Tok rant took on a life of its own, especially across K-pop Twitter and Alt TikTok communities. The New York Times reports that…

“TikTok users and fans of Korean pop music groups claimed to have registered potentially hundreds of thousands of tickets for Mr. Trump’s campaign rally as a prank. After the Trump campaign’s official account @TeamTrump posted a tweet asking supporters to register for free tickets using their phones on June 11, K-pop fan accounts began sharing the information with followers, encouraging them to register for the rally — and then not show.”

“K-pop Twitter and Alt TikTok have a good alliance where they spread information amongst each other very quickly. They all know the algorithms and how they can boost videos to get where they want.”

So it is with great fascination, optimism and renewed faith in the axiom: “expect the unexpected” that we report on what appears to be a successful Operation MindF#@k! As you know, Operation MindF#@k! (OM) is a covert countermeasure that involves challenging people's perspectives, and shaking them out of their reality tunnels by unexpected actions and events. Such OMs usually involve strange twists on normalcy. OMs involve subtlety, so that those whose minds are being f#@ked, don't know whether something's being pulled on them or not...

Rooted in civil disobedience, which is defined as being nonviolent resistance, a classic OM demonstrates it’s resistance through the highest form of human intelligence… Humor. A successful OM illuminates any clearly insane action or policy of any oppressive regime, through the theater of the absurd. OM operatives seek to re-establish the fact that “the emperor wears no cloths.” And after all, what is more funny than some pompous buffoon raging around naked?
