Top Secret America - Origins
What follows is important archival footage of then-president Dwight D Eisenhower warning the American public of the rise of the Military-Industrial Complex... the "granddaddy" of our modern Terrorism-Industrial Complex... Aka: Top Secret America. This footage is taken from "Ike's" farewell address to the nation on January 17, 1961 (transcript here). Being on his way out of office and thus having nothing to lose, Ike was compelled to alert his fellow citizens as to what was about to go down.
Given the proliferation of the defense and intelligence industries in the ensuing years... especially after 9/11... it is amazing to realize that the defense industry did not even exist prior to the end of World War II.
