Tek-Gnostics Creation Myth

In the beginning, Universe was empty. Suddenly… Universe became aware of itself! The awareness took form as a word & the word was… “Sweet”!

Instantaneously, Universe thought… “It could be sweeter”… and the first do-over came into existence. With the first do-over came the second thought… “It could be sweeter still”… and the first routine came into existence. With the first routine, time was born. With each subsequent redo, Universe got better and better… and evolution was born.

This is how it stands today… Universe is still sweet… routine still seems familiar and time has become one thing after another! Also…universe continues to evolve.

What conclusion can we draw from this eloquent tale?

In an evolving universe, he who stands still, moves backwards! He who keeps stillness within his heart, exclaims… sweet!

Spage Age Satori

Is Enlightenment the normal state for space-faring humans?

As Terran humanity meanders into the 21st century, we find ourselves poised at the edge of Earth’s gravity well in contemplation of “leaving the nest”. The jump from a terrestrial to extra-terrestrial species began with Galileo’s telescope. As our understanding of universe grew, so did our expectations. - Before manifestation… imagination. - Over a century ago, in popular fiction, Flash Gordon, Buck Rodgers et al were humanity’s first space explorers. The Soviet Union’s launch of “Sputnik 1” on October 4th, 1957 marked humanity’s transition from fiction to fact. It marked our serious entry into space. Thus the space-age was born and the space-race was upon us.

In recent times, the most compelling advancement in extra-terrestrial activity comes from the development of a fledgling commercial space industry. The Ansari X Prize competition was set up to help jump start private spaceflight, which was won by Space Ship One in 2004. The intriguing prospect of civilian space exploration opens up the experience of spaceflight to the world community. This expansion of opportunity effectively removes space exploration from the exclusive control of any single governmental program or agency.

As “we the people” take the leap into the heavens, the ingenuity, diversity and creativity of a broader cross section of humanity exponentially increases the evolutionary possibilities available to us as a species. In contemplating the myriad implications, of prime interest is the evolution of human consciousness. How will our awareness of self and universe evolve as we migrate off-world?

Clues can be found in our past, among the great light-bringers of humanity. Profound thinkers such as Lao Tzu and Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, who experienced and communicated enlightenment, can be considered the template or prototype for humanity’s future consciousness mode. The experiences of these precursors will become the operational consciousness of space-faring humanity. The triggering event for this consciousness shift is the transition from earth-bound existence to extra-terrestrial existence. To illustrate this, consider the following…

In February, 1971, Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell experienced the little understood phenomenon sometimes called the “Overview Effect”. He describes being completely engulfed by a profound sense of universal connectedness. Without warning, a feeing of bliss, timelessness, and connectedness began to overwhelm him. He describes becoming instantly and profoundly aware that each of his constituent atoms were connected to the fragile planet he saw in the window and to every other atom in the Universe. He described experiencing an intense awareness that Earth, with its humans, other animal species, and systems were all one synergistic whole. He says the feeling that rushed over him was a sense of interconnected euphoria. He was not the first - nor the last - to experience this strange “cosmic connection”.

Satori… the new norm

As our transition from an earth-bound existence to an extra-terrestrial existence unfolds, our everyday consciousness takes on characteristics of the “Overview Effect”, as described in the above referenced article. In addition, as stated earlier, the forerunners of our consciousness shift have provided us with a template as to what to anticipate. Putting a more elegant name to our newly expanded consciousness capability, we turn to the Zen Buddhist expression: Satori. The word Satori defined literally means "understanding". Satori translates into a flash of sudden awareness, or individual Enlightenment. Satori can be thought of as an intuitive experience as well.

Deepening awarness and intuition are at the core of what it means to be human. Satori, first experienced by the few extraordinary earthlings, increasingly becomes who we all are. The beauty of our expanded human capacity is that one doesn’t need to “live in space” in order to reap the benefit of Satori consciousness. As more of humanity awakens, we approach a theshhold of critical mass. That is to say, the rest of us “go along for the ride”. What was once the enlightened few becomes the human norm.

The transition to an extra-terrestrial existence will take time and may not proceed in a straight line of progress. As in all great endeavors, there may be setbacks and growing pains. We as a species must welcome the challenges and be patient with the set-backs. It is all part of our evolution. The seed of Satori consciousness, germinated by extraordinary individuals, incubated under earth’s atmosphere, triggered by the space age, is now ripe to grow within all of humanity. We don’t necessarily need to travel anywhere to participate, because… wherever you go… there you are.

Carl Jung and the Seven Sermons to the Dead

Interesting conversations ongoing at the Solar Seminar, topic entitled – “The Alchemical Romance of the Fifth Element”. As interesting as the post is, the collaborative comments are even more useful for Synchromystic considerations. Of note is the development of a discussion concerning The Seven Sermons to the Dead , an obscure document authored by Carl Gustav Jung. Find below an extended quote from a book review of Stephan A. Hoeller’s book, “The Gnostic Jung and the Seven Sermons to the Dead”…

“Without doubt Jung’s kind of psychoanalysis was different, approaching what could be called a path of initiation, the analyst becoming a hierophant and the patient a neophyte, or disciple. Mental illness was considered to be a divided or incomplete condition and health as a state of spiritual wholeness – or near wholeness. Jung always insisted that his writings were based upon empirical evidence and personal experience – and not mystical speculation. After his death and the publication of his autobiography, Memories, Dreams and Reflections, and disclosures by his most intimate disciples, it became clear that Jung underwent an intense period of spiritual experience between 1912 and 1917. This may explain his insistence on the word “empirical” to describe his investigations. The only fragment of his writings from that period which he permitted to be published was The Seven Sermons to the Dead, using terminology and style of second century Gnosticism. Jung attributes the authorship to Basilides, a Gnostic sage who taught in Alexandria around A.D. 125-140. Whether this implies some sort of mediumship or automatic writing is a matter of speculation. However, it should be borne in mind that it was the practice for centuries to ascribe authorship of spiritual treatises to someone who the real author considered to be more spiritually advanced than himself”.

“Tip-o-the-hat” to: Anadae Effro, for shareing the existence of Jung’s work, as well as to Dennis from Oregon (shine on brave soul) for bringing the conversation to our attention here at Tek-Gnostics. And... last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to Christopher Knowles for his excellent and thoughtful work at The Solar Seminar.
